WHAT WE WORK ON

Three focus areas. One north star.

Texas 2036 concentrates its resources on the policy areas with the greatest leverage for individual prosperity, economic growth, and quality of life — across every corner of the state.

Education & workforce for the future

A changing economy and evolving demographics are raising the stakes for preparing the next generation of Texans for the jobs that will drive the state’s growth.

Infrastructure for growth

Rapid growth is placing unprecedented strain on the systems that power, move, and sustain Texas — from water supplies stretched thin to a grid facing new and serious pressures.

Foundations for prosperity

Rising costs are reshaping the challenges facing Texas families. Affordable health care, accessible child care, and attainable housing are foundational to economic mobility.

The case for action

Texas has every advantage. Now we must capitalize on it.

Texas is the second-largest state in the nation, with a $2.6 trillion economy that ranks among the top 10 in the world. More than 31 million people call it home — a figure that has nearly doubled in four decades — and projections show another 10 million residents on the way by 2050.

But past performance is not indicative of future results. Texas’ third century will only be its greatest if the state makes the right investments now in the systems every Texas depends on: education, health, water, energy, and infrastructure.

$10M+

More residents projected by 2050 — demanding more from every public system

Education & workforce

Declining birthrates and shifting enrollment mean Texas must dramatically improve how it educates and trains the next generation of workers.

Water, energy & infrastructure

Water supplies are already stretched in many parts of the state. The electric grid faces new pressures. Mobility and broadband must reach every corner of Texas.

Health & quality of life

Rising health care costs pressure household finances and employer competitiveness. A rapidly aging population will place new demands on the systems meant to serve them.

“Texas has every demographic and economic advantage for its third century to be its greatest yet.”

– David, Leebron, president and CEO, Texas 2036

About Texas2036

From data to policy
– end to end, for all Texans.

Texas 2036 identifies and advances data-driven policies that improve lives and expand opportunities for all Texans. We are a nonpartisan statewide public policy organization, which means we lead on the most complex issues facing Texas.
To achieve results, we define priorities, build solutions, drive civic demand, catalyze state action, guide implementation and evaluate results.
That end-to-end approach is what makes Texas 2036 uniquely effective – and what has helped us support more than 200 bills across three legislative sessions.
